SESSION A: Solar Renewable Energy A global and local perspective of the industry
Join with members of your pharmaceutical community and learn about the developments in the solar electric business and gain a historical perspective on photovoltaics (PV). Where is the solar industry headed? What's the latest in technology? What does it take to make solar financially viable? What do owners need to know to consider solar PV installations?
Johnson and Johnson, who in the next 6 months will double their existing 4.5 MWs of solar installations, and Sun Power Corporation, the leading vertically integrated solar PV company in the world, will be presenting their perspective on the industry and explaining where their industry is going, both from a technology perspective and global market.
Senior level representatives from Johnson and Johnson will present what projects are in the pipeline and what their corporation does to emphasize the importance of renewables and the financial support given to their companies.
This presentation is geared to pharmaceutical professionals with interest in Sustainable Facilities, HVAC, Project Management, and anyone interested in seeing where the future of energy is headed and how your company and community can benefit.
SPEAKERS: Art Goehry, Sr. Director of Worldwide Engineering, Johnson & Johnson
Jed Richardson, NJ Regional Site Manager, Johnson & Johnson
Thomas Leyden, Managing Director, SunPower Corporation

SESSION B:
ArmChair Tour
ISPE 2008 Facility of the Year Award (FOYA) Winner
Pfizer - New Containment (NEWCON) for Oral Solid Dosage
i+o Industry Planning + Organization L.P., will present concepts incorporated in design and fast track construction of Pfizer's Award Winning Facility. "NEWCON is a highly automated facility for a high potency compound. The facility utilizes unconventional processing concepts including a single-room concept, high automation requiring no operator interface, and PAT applications that combine to provide safe and efficient manufacturing. NEWCON facility is a single-floor, single-containment module that can house up to three production trains, with one train currently operational for the production of Varenicline (Chantix, Champix®). According to IMS benchmarks, this was the fastest product launch in the European pharmaceutical industry, with 16 European countries launched in a five-month period. This presentation is geared to pharmaceutical professionals with interests in Containment, Automation, PAT, Lean Manufacturing and Streamlined Commissioning & Qualification.
Pfizer's NEWCON facility was named the overall 2008 Facility of the Year Award winner in part because all of its production equipment is located in a dedicated processing module and is mostly automated to ensure that no dust from the highly potent Varenicline can escape from the manufacturing area. This containment concept made possible, for the first time, dust-free production and fully automated production of film-coated tablets. All of the process stages are controlled and monitored from a separate control room so that employees do not come into contact with dust that might be generated during the tablet production run. This extent of automation has not previously existed in containment production anywhere in the world." Source: ISPE FOYA press release.
